ITHACA, NY - The Cornell men's squash team fell to a strong Harvard squad this afternoon, losing to the Crimson by a score of 6-3. The Big Red dominated the bottom half of the ladder, earning victories at the No. 7, 8 and 9 spots, but failed to win at the top positions. Cornell falls to 1-2 on the season.
Sophomore Brad Mosier (Atlanta, Ga.) was victorious at the No. 7 spot, beating Harvard's Bradley Allen 3-1. Both Mike Delany (Milton, Mass.) and Kenny Greer (Charlottesville, Va.), playing No. 8 and 9 respectively, blanked their opponents, winning their matches by a score of 3-0. Greer only allowed his opponent, Peter Wallach, eight points in the match. Freshman Matt Greenberg (Meadowbrook, Pa.) lost a marathon match at the No. 5 spot to Thomas Storch, taking it to five games only to lose narrowly in the fifth.
The 6-3 loss for the Big Red is an indicator of the team's improvement since last season when the Crimson handed Cornell a 9-0 defeat. Cornell failed to win any games in that match but this year the team was competitive at all nine spots.
The Big Red return to action on January 9th , when they travel to London, Ont. to take on Western Ontario.
