HAMILTON, N.Y. - Hamilton native Shannon Fraser had a fine performance in her homecoming, scoring her first career goal and leading the Big Red women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Colgate. Sophomore Katie Thomas made six saves to earn her second shutout of the year and junior Whitney Cale notched her second goal in as many games to keep Cornell's 2002 record unblemished at 3-0.

The Big Red lit the scoreboard first at 23:54 when junior Emily Knight took a pass in the box and sent it to an open Fraser, who beat Raider goalkeeper Kate Jassin for her first goal as a member of the Big Red.

Fraser helped the Big Red add to its lead early in the second half when she sent a ball to senior Cailin Rice, who beat her defender to the corner. Rice then crossed the ball into the box for Cale, who came into the near side and tucked it in to the far post for the score at 47:20.

Cornell outshot the Raiders by a 21-17 margin, including a 16-3 advantage in the first half. Thomas dropped her goals against average to 0.33 with the shutout.

The Big Red will look for its second Ivy win of 2002 when it hosts Penn on Saturday at noon.
