PRINCETON, NJ - The Big Red avenged an early season loss this afternoon when they defeated Western Ontario 6-3 to clinch 5th place at the Collegiate Squash Association National Championships. Cornell went into the postseason tournament seeded sixth while Western Ontario was seeded fifth.
Freshman Matt Serediak (Regina, Sask.) led the Big Red victory, defeating Western Ontario's Rob Nigro in three games. Serediak, along with sophomore Mike Delany (Milton, Mass.), went undefeated on the weekend. Delany took Western Ontario's Will Mariani into five games after falling behind 2-1. Delany eventually defeated Mariani, 5-9, 9-4, 7-9, 9-4, 9-0.
The Big Red ends their season 11-7 and with a 5th place ranking.
