ITHACA, NY- Matt Serediak took care of business as usual, putting away his opponent in straight sets and leading a Cornell attack that improved its record to 7-4 behind a convincing 7-2 victory. But was especially key in this contest were the strong performances of the Big Red's lower seeds.
The Big Red players in positons four through nine gave up a total of only 14 points between the six of them, all in straight set victories, and five of those six recording at least one shutout set in his match. With strong showings like these, Cornell was able to handle the off-days from Cheng and Bernstein, who still came dangerously close to pulling off the shutout.
With the win, Cornell holds fast to its position as fifth in the Ivy League, but with the next highest school (Dartmouth) sitting at 12-4, moving up the list may be difficult. With no rest for the weary, the squashers look to chalk up another "W" tomorrow at home against Hobart.
