Squash Drops Narrow 5-4 Decision To Amherst

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The women's squash team won four of the top seven slots on the ladder, but could not overcome Amherst's strength at the bottom in a 5-4 loss to Amherst in the 2004 WISA Kurtz Cup semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Yale. The Big Red will face Colby College at 10:30 a.m. for 11th place in the final national standings.

Cornel lgot wins at No. 2 and No. 3, as Cory Warfield and Brooke Stetson earned hard-fought victories. Back-to-back wins at No. 6 by Margot Dickson and No. 7 by Claire Zipf brought the Big Red to within one victory to advance to the finals, but Amherst strung together victories at No. 8 an No. 9.

Colby fell to Bates 7-2 and was seeded 12th in the tournament. Cornell earned the No. 10 seed in the national competition.
