NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Cornell used its depth throughout the lineup and impressive wins at No. 1 by Caitlin Russell and No. 3 by Brooke Stetson to defeat Colby College 6-3 to earn 11th place at the 2004 WISA Kurtz Cup at Yale. The Big Red improved to 5-10, including 2-1 at the Kurtz Cup.
Freshman Caitlin Russell continued her outstanding freshman season, earning a 9-2, 9-3, 9-3 win over Morgan Pratt at the top of the lineup, while junior Brooke Stetson came up big at No. 3 with a 9-5, 9-3, 9-0 victory over Nikki Patel. Colby earned wins at No. 2 and No. 4, but the Big Red captured victories in the next three slots, including a sweep by Margot Dickson at No. 6.
The Big Red will complete its season at the individual nationals in Canton, N.Y. beginning on Friday, March 5.
