Women's Squash Finishes As Runner-Up At Kurtz Cup

PRINCETOn, N.J. -- The Cornell women's squash team dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to Bates in day afternoon's Kurtz Cup final, finishing the season ranked in the top 10 nationally. The Big Red had defeated both William Smith and Amherst in the "B" draw to earn its shot in the finals. The Big Red ends the dual match season with a 6-10 record and winners of three of its final five matches.

Mairin Barnes earned a 3-0 victory at No. 1 over Melissa Lue Yen to lead the Big Red, which took three of the top four spots on the ladder. Brooke Stetson at No. 3 and Joanna Wolfson at No. 4 also captured victories. Brooke Stetson made a run at No. 2, taking a 2-0 lead before dropping the final three games to Kelsey Engman.

The Big Red will send individuals to compete at the individual national championships at Dartmouth beginning on Friday, March 4.
