NEW HAVEN, Conn.--The Big Red women's squash team was successful at the Round Robins held at Yale, Jan. 13-14, going 3-1 for the weekend. Cornell's only loss came from No. 3 ranked Trinity on Sunday when the Bantams notched an 8-1 win. Freshman Annie Ritter won her match for the Big Red in the No. 6 spot.
The Bantams won the top four matches in straight sets while utilizing its highly international roster. Freshman Liza Stokes lost the first two sets of her match, but came back to win the next two. Siobhan Knight edged past Stokes in the fifth set, 10-8.
Ritter faced off against the Bantams' Kim Palterman and won in straight sets. The Big Red's Alix Watson and Anna Beavis each won their first sets, but their Trinity opponents put the matches away winning the next three.
Unfortunately for the Big Red, the match at No. 10 does not count towards the team score, but Margot Dickson picked up a win in straight sets against Trinity's Lucretia Witte.
The Big Red will return home Jan. 20 to play No. 2 Yale at 10 a.m. and No. 8 Williams at 4 p.m. for its first home matches of the new year.
