ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore goalkeeper Scott Brody made seven saves and the Big Red offense generated several dangerous chances, but it was not enough to get the home team on the board in a 3-0 loss to yale on Saturday evening on a frigid Berman Field. Cornell slipped to 1-10 overall (0-3 Ivy), while Yale's record climbed to 5-6-1 (1-2 Ivy).

Cornell actually out-shot Yale 16-12, including 11-8 after halftime, but a pair of early goals in each half set the tone in handing the Big Red the loss. Frank Piasta got the Bulldogs on the board in the 11th minute when Eric Meyer's second pass off a corner bounded in front of him on the near post and he one-timed it past Brody to put the visitors up 1-0. Cornell had a pair of opportunities to get on the board in the final 35 minutes of the half, with a breakaway being tackled away at the last second and a shot by Matt Bouraee going just high.

The second half opened like the first, with Charlie Neil running underneath a long ball from Andy Hackbarth that was missed outside the box by Brody. Neil calmly dribbled in and buried the uncontested goal to make it 2-0. Chris Dennen capped the scoring when he tallied with four seconds on the clock on a breakaway.

Bulldog goalkeeper Travis Chulick picked up the win with six saves.

Cornell returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. when it visits Colgate. The Big Red leads the all-time series 50-22-6, including a 2-1 victory last season in Ithaca.
