SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- A late goal was the difference in the contest as the Cornell women's soccer team fell to Bryant by a 1-0 score on Friday afternoon in Smithfield, R.I. The Big Red fell to 1-10-1 on the year, while Bryant improves to 4-9-3 on the season.

Following a scoreless first half, the two squads battled through the second period with neither team finding the back of the net. With 11:05 to play in the match, the Bulldogs finally broke through as Steph Del Mistro cleaned up a rebound, lofting a shot over the head of Cornell goalkeeper Jodi Palmer and into the back of the net. Bryant then killed off the remaining time to escape with the victory on what was simultaneously the Bulldogs' home opener and home finale.

Palmer picked up seven saves on the match, while Bryant's goalkeeper combo of Jessica Neales and Jessica Clark made one and two saves, respectively.

Cornell will stay in Rhode Island through the weekend, taking on Brown in an Ivy League contest on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Providence.
