ITHACA, N.Y. -- A pair of second-half goals four minutes apart broke open the game as the Cornell women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest to St. Bonaventure on Friday night at Berman Field in Ithaca. The loss sends Cornell to 1-2 on the year, while the Bonnies improve to 3-3.

St. Bonaventure got on the board in the 19th minute, capitalizing on a short corner kick. Tori Burchett played a short corner to Anna Cunningham, who beat a defender and fired a shot at the near post that deflected off the hip of a Cornell defender and squirted into the goal. Cunningham's goal would turn out to be the game-winner.

The score remained 1-0 through the half, but the Bonnies added to the lead in the 55th minute. Courtney Bosse took a pass from Cunningham and moved into the middle of the field before ripping a left-footed shot from 18 yards out that beat Cornell goalkeeper Megan Bartlett to the far post. The Bonnies added to the lead four minutes later as Cunningham banked a shot in off the far post from 10 yards out to provide the final margin.

Cornell out-shot the Bonnies for the contest, a game that was much closer than the scoreline would indicate. Cornell had 18 shots to St. Bonaventure's 11, but nine of the Bonnies' shots were on the goal frame, compared to just six for the Big Red.

Bartlett picked up six saves in making her first collegiate start for Cornell, while Nicole Markert picked up the same number in getting the shutout for the Bonnies.

Cornell will seek to even its record on Sunday when the Big Red plays host to Lehigh in a 5 p.m. contest at Berman Field.
