PRINCETON, N.J.—The Big Red men's squash team was edged out by Harvard, 5-4, on Friday afternoon in their first match of the CSA National Championships in the Potter Cup. Cornell's match was played at the Lawrenceville School with Cornell earning wins at the No. 2, 5, 7, and 8 positions.
At the No. 2 position Chris Sachvie defeated Verdi Disesa, 9-7, 9-5, 9-3. Thomas Spettigue picked up a win at No. 5 over Reed Endresen, 9-5, 1-9, 9-2, 10-9. The Big Red notched victories at the No. 7 and 8 positions, with McKay Claghorn and Amar Gupta defeating their opponents.
In exhibition play at the No. 10 spot, Chris Vernick defeated Alex Lavoie, 9-2, 9-4, 9-2.
The Big Red will next play Dartmouth at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Jadwin Gym.
