HANOVER, N.H.—The Big Red men's tennis team picked up its first Ivy League win of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory at Dartmouth. Cornell swept the doubles matches and earned four singles wins. The Big Red moves to 10-4 overall and 1-1 against Ivy foes.
At No. 1 doubles,
Kyle Doppelt and Josh Goldstein teamed up to defeat Daniel Freeman and Greif, 8-4. The duo of
Jeremy Feldman and
Andy Gauthier picked up a 9-7 win over Ari Gayer and Curtis Rody at the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 spot,
Marc Asch and
Mirza Klis allowed their opponents to only win one game in their 8-1 victory over Chris Ho and Justin Tzou.
At No. 1 singles, Jaklitsch edged out Freeman in the first set, 7-6, and grabbed the match win with a 6-1 victory in the second set. Goldstein won a hard-fought victory over Greif at No. 2 singles (7-6, 3-6 (10-9)), while Feldman defeated Tzou at the No. 4 spot (6-0, 7-6). At No. 6 singles, Asch picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ho.
The Big Red will play at Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
