CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Big Red men's polo team picked up a 22-15 victory over Westmont College in the quarterfinals of the National Intercollegiate Polo Championships on Tuesday.
The Big Red notched the first four goals en route to taking a 5-3 lead in the first chukker. Cornell broke out late in the second to extend its lead to 14-6 at the half. Westmont did not back down and fought its way within four goals in the third, but Cornell bounced back to take an eight goal lead into the fourth. Westmont once more closed in within four goals, but the Big Red finished strong to win 22-15. The Big Red will play Texas A&M in the semifinals on Thursday.
