WORCESTER, Mass. – The Cornell University men's lightweight crew participated in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints today and picked up a two first-place finishes, but came in sixth in the varsity-8 race.
The novice-8 and the
second novice-8 both gave victories to the Big Red, with the novice-8 crossing the line in 6:09.189, a little more than two seconds faster than the Harvard squad. The second novice-8, meanwhile dominated its race, winning by nearly six seconds over Navy in the final with a time of 6:18.602.
The varsity-8 had a tough battle and finished in sixth place overall with a time of 5:50.117, while the second varsity-8 took fourth in a time of 6:01.288.
Harvard managed to edge out the third varsity-8 as Cornell took second in a time of 6:10.712.
The Big Red will have a long layoff before competing in the IRA National Championship on June 4.
