ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo remained unbeaten after taking a 15-13 victory on Saturday evening at the Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 11-0 on the year and 8-0 at home with its closest victory of the season.
In the team's first game after a six-week layoff, the starting lineup of Jess Cross,
Erin Bold and
Lizzie Wisner tied the visitors at 3-3 after one. The second chukker was more of the same as Cornell managed to take a 5-3 lead, then fell behind 6-5 before coming back with less than a minute to go to take a 7-6 advantage into the half. The Big Red fought out to a five goal lead at 13-8 in the third before the Wildcats scrapped back to make it 15-13 with two minutes left in the fourthchukker. Cornell hung on for the win at 15-13.
Cornell returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. against Harvard at Oxley.
