BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Junior Chase Aaronson scored his first goal of the year and sophomore netminder Rick Pflasterer stopped five shots as the Cornell men's soccer team picked up a 1-1 draw with New Hampshire in the opening game of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Nike Classic on Friday afternoon in Burlington, Vt.

Cornell (1-1-1) took the lead in the first half when Aaronson worked his way around a New Hampshire defender and slotted a shot that beat Colin O'Donnell inside his near post as the Big Red took the 1-0 lead in the 36th minute of the match. The goal was the first allowed by New Hampshire (1-0-2) all season.

Though Cornell took the 1-0 lead into the half, the Wildcats fought back, turning a set piece into the game's equalizing goal. In the 74th minute, John Bronner played a free kick toward the Cornell box that was flicked on by Brad Hilton, and the ball wound up on the foot of Joe Corsello, who struck a shot with his first touch that beat Pflasterer, knotting the score at one.

Both teams had one shot during the first of the two overtime periods, but neither O'Donnell or Pflasterer conceeded the game-winner as the game finished tied at one. O'Donnell stopped two shots in the draw, while Pflasterer stopped five shots for the match.

Cornell returns to action on Sunday when it takes on Vermont in a 1:30 p.m. contest in Burlington, Vt.
