ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team took its biggest challenge of the season and answered the call, knocking off No. 2 Kentucky 18-12 on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The undefeated and top-ranked Big Red got six goals apiece from Kailey Eldredge and Lizzie Wisner, while Jess Cross scored four times and Ali Hoffman lit the lamp once in helping Cornell improve to 12-0 with its second win over the Wildcats in its last three games.

Hoffman, Eldredge and Wisner started for the Big Red and came out strong, taking a 6-2 lead after the first chukker. Kentucky fought hard fought hard in the second, but still lost ground and went into the half down 10-5. Cross replaced Hoffman for the second half and Cornell continued to gain ground as the Big Red pulled further ahead, 15-7 heading into the fourth. Cornell gained its largest lead early in the fourth at 16-7 and again at 17-8 before the Wildcats put together a game ending mini-run, closing the gap to the final of 18-12.
