NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Junior forward Xandra Hompe scored her second goal of the season, but the Big Red women's soccer team lost another heartbreaker on Saturday afternoon with Yale breaking through in overtime for a 2-1 victory.

Hompe's goal tied the score just two minutes into the second half, finishing from close range after a through-ball from sophomore midfielder Rachel Nichols. It was Nichols' second assist of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Bartlett made nine saves for Cornell (2-10-1, 0-3-1 Ivy League), with only Enma Mullo capitalizing for the Bulldogs.

Mullo sent an arching free kick from about 20 yards just inside the far post to give Yale (7-4-2, 3-1) a lead in the 22nd minute. Mullo then scored the winner 7:40 into the extra frame on another free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.

The Big Red returns to action next weekend with its annual Senior Night. Sidra Bonner, Abigail Apistolas, Brook Chang, Abageal Vonderweidt, Kelly Murphy and Bartlett will be honored as they play their last game at Berman Field at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.
