ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team had its 47-game home win streak snapped when second-ranked Kentucky earned a 19-18 win in a shootout to advance to the finals of the William S. Field Invitational on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The loss dropped the Big Red to 4-3 on the year.

UK jumped out on Cornell ( Kristen Russomanno, Ali Hoffman & Kailey Eldredge) to take a 5-2 lead after the first chukker. The Big Red started to find its bearings in the second, but still trailed 10-6 at the half. Brit Cox subbed for Russomanno in the third and Cornell fought back into the match by winning the chukker 6-3 to pull within one goal at 13-12 going into the fourth. UK surged to a three-goal lead with a pair of quick goals, but Cornell scored a two-pointer to bring the difference back to one goal at 18-17. In the final minute, Cornell couldn't take advantage of a pair of Kentucky penalties before finally converting with just eight seconds left to send the game to a shootout. The WIldcats were able to earn a 1-0 shootout victory to send them into the finals against No. 1 Virginia.
