THE MATCHUP – The Big Red men's tennis team (21-4, 4-0) will continue Ivy League play on the road at Penn this afternoon before returning home for a crucial Ivy League battle with Princeton and a pair of matches against Division III opponents on Sunday. Cornell will face the Quakers (12-5, 1-4) at the Lott Tennis Courts today, at 2:00 p.m., before travelling back to East Hill to face Ithaca (5-3) at 9:00 a.m., Princeton (12-6, 5-0) at 1:00 p.m. and St. Lawrence (3-5) at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 at the Reis Tennis Center. The match with the Tigers is crucial to the Big Red's hopes of earning its first every Ivy League title as the two teams enter the weekend as the only undefeated squads left in the conference.

THE SERIES VS. PENN – Cornell and Penn first met in 1906. Penn currently leads the series 44-34-1, but the Big Red picked up the 5-2 victory last season.

SCOUTING THE QUAKERS – Penn currently holds a 1-4 record in the Ivy League heading into the third weekend of Ancient Eight competition. Last weekend the Quakers fell to Harvard 5-2 and Dartmouth 4-3. Against the Crimson, the Quakers took the doubles point, but only one singles win at the No. 3 spot. Versus the Big Green, the Quakers also lost the doubles point and could only manage three wins in the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots.

A WIN OVER PENN WOULD – Keep the Big Red unbeaten in Ivy League play and improve the squad to 22-4 (5-0 Ivy) on the season.

LAST TIME VS. THE QUAKERS – Last season, the Big Red defeated Penn, 5-2 on April 18, 2010 in Ithaca, N.Y. Cornell swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then won the top four spots in singles action.

THE SERIES VS. PRINCETON: Cornell and Princeton first met in 1906. Princeton currently leads the series, 86-7-1, but the Big Red earned a 5-2 victory last season.

THE SCENARIO: Princeton is currently the only other undefeated Ivy League team in Ancient Eight matchups this season. If the Big Red defeats Penn and the Tigers beat Columbia on Friday, then Sunday's match will determine the Ivy League championship.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Princeton is coming off of two 4-3 wins last weekend against Dartmouth and Harvard. Versus the Big Green, the Tigers fell short for the doubles point, but came back to take four wins in singles at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Against Harvard, Princeton took the doubles point and won singles at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 spots. The Tigers will face Columbia on Friday, April 15 before coming to Ithaca to meet the Big Red on Sunday.

LAST TIME VS. THE TIGERS – Last season Cornell defeated Princeton 5-2 on April 16, 2010. The Big Red swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then received singles victories from Jon Jaklitsch, Andy Gauthier, Evan Bernstein and Mirza Klis.

THE SERIES VS. ITHACA – Cornell and Ithaca first met in 1978 and the Big Red leads the series 8-0. The last time Cornell and Ithaca competed was in 1985 when the Big Red won, 9-0.

SCOUTING THE BOMBERS – Ithaca is on a four-match winning streak. Last weekend they took down RIT, 6-3 and Alfred, 9-0. Before facing the Big Red, the Bombers will travel to Oneonta to meet Hartwick College.

THE SERIES VS. ST. LAWRENCE – Sunday's match will be the first-ever meeting between the two men's tennis programs.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS – The Saints are coming off of two tough losses after falling to Skidmore 8-1 and Hobart 6-3 in their first conference matches of the season.

LAST TIME OUT FOR CORNELL – Last weekend, the Big Red kept up its Ivy winning streak, taking down both Brown (0-3) and Yale (1-3), 4-3. On Saturday against the Bears, the Big Red swept the doubles matches taking an early 1-0 lead and then notched wins from Andy Gauthier, Jonathan Jaklitsch and Zhongming Chen. Sunday, the Big Red took another early 1-0 lead against the Bulldogs and notched wins in singles spots by Jeremy Feldman, Evan Bernstein and Venkat Iyer.
