ITHACA, N.Y. – In a game where neither team had a plethora of quality scoring chances, it seemed the only way either the Yale or Cornell women's soccer teams would score on Saturday would be with an unlucky break or bounce. Unfortunately for the BIg Red, it was the Bulldogs who benefitted from such a play to secure a 1-0 victory at Berman Field.
Cornell junior goalkeeper
Tori Christ made four saves on the afternoon, but there was no way she could stop the winner. Yale (6-6, 1-3 Ivy League) substitute Frannie Coxe took a corner kick from the left side, with the ball deflecting in close to the near post off a defender a couple yards off the line.
Christ made the best save of the day with 24:40 remaining in the game, diving to her right to thwart a shot from Coxe at the top of the box. Cornell (1-11-1, 0-3-1 Ivy) had four shots on target, including a pair by
Maneesha Chitanvis.
Cornell will play its final road game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 28 at Brown before returning home for games against Princeton and Dartmouth.
