PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown scored early in the first half, then held off the Big Red women's soccer team for a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Tori Christ made five saves in the loss.

Maneesha Chitanvis, Kerry Schubert and Xandra Hompe all directed shots on goal for the Big Red in the first half, but Bears keeper Amber Bledsoe was equal to all of them. The second half was particularly physical, with Brown committing 10 fouls in the final 45 minutes.

Cornell (1-12-1, 0-4-1 Ivy League) will close out its season at home over the next two weeks. The Big Red will play the second game of a doubleheader with the men's team against Princeton at 6 p.m. on Saturday, then it will hold its annual Senior Day at 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 when it takes on Dartmouth in the season finale.
