PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Facing an NCAA tournament participant from last season, the women's soccer team was shut out Sunday for the first time in 2012, dropping a 4-0 decision at La Salle.

The Explorers opened the scoring in the sixth minute, then tacked on two more goals before the half. The final goal was scorer in the 84th minute, with Cornell junior goalkeeper Tori Christ making seven saves on the day. La Salle (5-3) had a 24-1 advantage in shots, with senior forward Moonie Mancho accounting for the Big Red's only offering toward goal.

Cornell (0-7) was blanked in eight of its 16 games last season, but it had scored at least once in its first six games of this season.

The Big Red has four days off before opening Ivy League play on Friday night at Columbia. Cornell then returns to Ithaca for its second home game of the season on Sunday against Niagara – a team it defeated, 2-0, in a meeting last season at Berman Field.
