NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Juliann Jeffrey scored in the 49th, leading Yale to a 1-0 victory over the Cornell women's soccer team on Saturday night at Reese Stadium.

Geneva Decker drew the primary assist on the goal, firing a shot that was stopped by Big Red freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Tierney, but Jeffrey got free to cash in the rebound.

Tierney finished the day with five saves in a game that was statistically very even. Cornell (7-5-1, 1-3 Ivy League) put five shots on target -- including three shots by sophomore forward Caroline Growney -- but Yale goalkeeper Elise Wilcox was equal to them all.

The Big Red returns to action next weekend when it hosts its Senior Day against Brown at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Berman Field in Ithaca, N.Y.
