PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The women's squash team looked sharp Saturday in its first match action in five weeks, handily defeating Brown, 8-1, at Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion. The sixth-ranked Big Red improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Ivy League play.
Cornell won seven of its eight matches in three games, which sophomore
Reut Odinak dropping just six points in her victory at the No. 6 spot. Freshman
Rachel Scherman (No. 3) also won in the first rotation, giving the visitors an early 2-1 lead.
Three victories in the second rotation clinched the match. Freshman
Sydney Francis (No. 8), sophomore
Brynn Daniels (No. 5) and senior
Jessenia Pacheco (No. 2) all had little trouble in their matches, pushing the score to 5-1. The Big Red then closed out the match with victories from juniors
Rachel Au (No. 4) and
Danielle Letourneau (No. 1), plus a four-game triumph from senior
Laura Caty (No. 7).
The Big Red continues its road trip Sunday at Yale and Monday at Trinity.
