NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The eighth-ranked men's squash team fought off a slow start Sunday, coming up just short in a 5-4 loss to third-ranked Yale at Brady Squash Center.
The Bulldogs swept the opening rotation to take a commanding 3-0 lead, but Cornell kept the match interesting by winning four of the six remaining matches. Junior
Aditya Jagtap needed just three games to dispatch of his opponent at the No. 2 position, and sophomore
Graham Dietz outlasted his matchup in a five-game tilt at No. 8.
With the score 4-2 entering the final rotation, the Big Red could only muster two of the last three points of the match. Senior
Nick Sachvie never wavered in a three-game victory at the No. 1 spot, and freshman Gustav Runersjö rallied from a 2-0 deficit to come out victorious in his showdown at No. 7.
The Big Red concludes its three-match road trip Monday at Trinity.
