CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Senior
Nick Sachvie and junior
Aditya Jagtap won matches at the top two positions Friday, but it wasn't enough for the men's squash team in a 6-3 loss to Trinity in the quarterfinals of the Potter Cup at Harvard's Murr Center.
It's the second time this season Sachvie and Jagtap defeated their respective opponents from second-ranked Trinity (17-1), which matched its winning score against Cornell (9-6) from earlier this year. Up next for the seventh-ranked Big Red is a consolation semifinal match against sixth-seeded Rochester at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Bantams, who have won 13 national titles in the last 14 years, started with a three-game victory at No. 3 and four-game victory at No. 9. Senior
Rishi Jalan got the Big Red on the board by outlasting his opponent at No. 6 in five games.
Trinity stretched its lead to 4-2 after the second rotation, despite Jagtap's team-leading 11
th win of the season. He had little trouble in a three-game victory, surrendering a total of just 13 points. Sachvie also cruised in his match, winning 11-6, 11-6, 11-3.
The Big Red will take on Rochester for the first time this season after their regular-season match was canceled by inclement weather earlier this month.
