CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — In a clash which featured four five-game matches, the seventh-ranked men's squash team outlasted Rochester for a 5-4 victory on Saturday in the consolation semifinals at the Potter Cup at Harvard's Murr Center. The victory advances the Big Red to the fifth-place match against No. 4 St. Lawrence at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Sixth-ranked Rochester took a 2-1 lead after the first rotation, including a five-game victory at the No. 6 position. Freshman
Harry Freeman started the Big Red's sweep of the bottom third with a four-game victory at the No. 9 position.
Sophomore
Abhijit Malik made short work of his opponent at No. 8 in three games, and senior
Aditya Jagtap rallied for a pair of one-game deficit to win the fifth game of his No. 2 match in extra points to tie the score at 3 heading to the final three matches.
Senior
Bryan Keating won handily in three games at the No. 4 position, and sophomore
Graham Dietz held off his opponent at the No. 7 spot in five games to guarantee the Big Red a fifth- or sixth-place finish in the this year's national championship.
