PRINCETON, N.J. — The women's squash team fell to Penn, 8-1, on Friday afternoon in a Howe Cup quarterfinal at Jadwin Squash Courts. Up next for sixth-ranked Cornell (8-6) will be a consolation semifinal at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against seventh-ranked Stanford.

Jessenia Pacheco accounted for the Big Red's lone point against the Quakers, rallying from two losses in the first and third games of her No. 2 match to win in five. Sophomore
Olivia Wherry was the only other Cornell competitor to a win a game, forcing her No. 8 match to four games.
In Friday's quarterfinals, No. 1 Harvard defeated No. 8 Dartmouth and No. 2 Trinity blanked No. 7 Stanford by identical 9-0 scores. No. 4 Yale staved off No. 5 Princeton, 5-4.
The Big Red will turn its attention to rival Stanford on Saturday. With a victory, Cornell can assure itself of finishing the season ranked fifth and sixth in the nation. That fifth-place match would be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday against the winner of the other consolation semifinal, pitting Princeton against Dartmouth. The seventh-place match will also take place at 11:30 a.m. Sunday between the consolation semifinal losers.
