VESTAL, N.Y. – Men's soccer kept the momentum going on the road Saturday evening, knocking off Binghamton 1-0 at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Senior Conor Goepel, the hero from Wednesday's thrilling double-overtime victory over Lafayette, continued his scoring touch with the game-winning tally in the 30th minute of the first half.

The Big Red has found little trouble generating scoring chances on Binghamton in the past and continued to find success creating quality scoring opportunities on Saturday. The game-winning play started from the back, as Ralph Lee Price IV played a nice through ball to Chris St. Germain. The sophomore attacker floated a perfect cross onto the foot of Goepel, who powered the shot into the twine for his second goal in as many games.

The Cornell (2-1-1) defense continued its stellar play in limiting Binghamton (2-4-0) to just eight shots in the contest, with just two going on net. Senior goalkeeper Zach Zagorski made both stops for his third clean sheet in four starts this season. The Cornell defense has now gone 194-minutes without allowing a goal.

Goepel was extremely active in the attacking third, finding himself in dangerous attacking situations throughout the contest. He led all players with five shots in the game. Goepel's goal was the eighth game-winner of his career, moving him into a tie for second on the program's all-time list.

Freshmen Eric Nuss registered two shots on goal, while senior captain Devin Morgan also registered a shot on goal.

The victory over the Bearcats was the fourth straight by the Big Red in the series. Cornell is now 12-4-1 all-time against Binghamton.

The Big Red will return to action on Tuesday, as it travels to Syracuse to take on the Orange at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Time Warner Sports and will be streamed live on WatchESPN.
