ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red women's polo team defeated the University of Virginia Cavaliers 13-7 on Friday.
 
Anna Winslow, Elena Wicker, and Claire Stieg once again started for the Big Red.  The Cavaliers opened with the first goal.  The two rivals traded goals until Cornell took the lead 4-3.  Cornell ended the first chukker up 5-3.
 
The second chukker turned into a defensive battle as the Cavaliers came back to trail 6-5.  Hannah Noyes replaced Stieg in the third and the teams once again traded goals with the Big Red coming out on top 8-7.   
 
In the fourth Cornell broke out on a five-goal streak to shut down the Cavaliers with a 13-7 final score.  Winslow led all scorers with 9, Wicker added 2, Noyes 1, and the horses kicked in one.
 
Cornell is back at it Sunday, Nov. 1 at the University of Connecticut at 2:00 P.M.
