ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red women's polo team defeated the University of Virginia Cavaliers 13-7 on Friday.

Elena Wicker, and
Claire Stieg once again started for the Big Red. The Cavaliers opened with the first goal. The two rivals traded goals until Cornell took the lead 4-3. Cornell ended the first chukker up 5-3.
The second chukker turned into a defensive battle as the Cavaliers came back to trail 6-5.
Hannah Noyes replaced Stieg in the third and the teams once again traded goals with the Big Red coming out on top 8-7.
In the fourth Cornell broke out on a five-goal streak to shut down the Cavaliers with a 13-7 final score. Winslow led all scorers with 9, Wicker added 2, Noyes 1, and the horses kicked in one.
Cornell is back at it Sunday, Nov. 1 at the University of Connecticut at 2:00 P.M.
