WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The women's squash team got its season off to a strong start on Friday with a 9-0 victory over the host team at the Williams Round Robin.
Cornell, which enters the season ranked eighth in the country by the College Squash Association, got three-set sweeps from
Lauren Leizman (No. 9) and Colby Gallagher (No. 6) in the opening rotation, plus another in the middle from
Emma Uible (No. 2).
Michèle Garceau returned from injury to win in four sets at No. 1. The Big Red also won the day's lone five-setter, with
Charlotte Knaggs battling from a 2-1 deficit at No. 7.
The Big Red has now won 11 consecutive matches against Williams. Cornell continues play at the event on Saturday with a 10 a.m. match with 23rd-ranked Dickinson.
