Sprint Football Tops Post, 38-21, in Season Finale

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sprint football ended its 2017 season on a high note, defeating Post, 38-21, at Schoellkopf Field on Friday night.

Cody Clarson got Cornell off to a hot start just over a minute into the game as his fumble recovery led to a touchdown for the home team.

Post would equalize to make it 7-7 after the first quarter, but the Big Red spewed off 31 unanswered points to keep the game out of reach for the Eagles. Connor Ostrander kicked-off the point streak with a 14-yard run into the endzone while Karriem Royster hauled in a 39-yard pass from Ostrander to put the team up on top 21-7.

Ben Finkelstein kicked a 28-yard field goal to end the second quarter and Samuel Rodriguez cashed in on a 54-yard pass from Brooks Panhans to increase Cornell's lead to 31-7 early in the third. Dean Ames would notch the team's last points of the evening on yet another fumble recovery to cap-off the scoring for the Big Red.

Post would eventually score two touchdowns and a safety, but the damage was already done as the team walked off of Schoellkopf Field for the last time this year victorious.

Both Ostrander and Panhans were solid in the quarterback position, with Ostrander completing 10 passes for 91 yards while Panhans garnered 77 passing yards on three completions.

Will Griffen led the rushing attack, netting 95 yards on nine runs. Royster and Rodriguez led the receiving corps with Royster netting 69 yards in the air while Rodriguez had 64.

Andrew-Gerard Baddoo had nine total tackles throughout the game, with eight being solo. Baddoo also had two sacks and five tackles for loss. Marcus Weeks and Christopher Andolina had seven and six solo tackles each, respectively.
