ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's squash team forced a fifth set in three of its matches Friday night, but Princeton went on to win each of those contests by slim margins to secure a 6-3 victory over Cornell at Belkin International Squash Courts.
Cornell (6-9, 1-5 Ivy League) — ranked 11th the nation by the College Squash Association — won one of three matches in each rotation, but 10th-ranked Princeton (4-8, 2-4) outlasted the Big Red.
Alex Jung got Cornell on the board by breezing to a win from the No. 6 position, then
Andy Muran recorded the hosts' second point with a four-set victory at No. 2. The win was Muran's fourth in the Ivy League play this season and his eighth overall — both team-best marks.
Seb Obieta-Chichizola then won in four sets at the No. 7 position.
The match was the Big Red's Senior Night, marking the final home match in the career of seniors
Kevin Flannery,
Harry Freeman and
Augie Jones. Cornell concludes the regular season at noon Sunday at seventh-ranked Penn.
