Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell sprint football team put on a dominant performance against Post, downing the Eagles 34-0 Friday evening at Schoellkopf Field. With the win the Big Red improved to 4-1 on the season and remained unbeaten against CSFL North opponents with a mark of 2-0.
The Big Red wasted no time getting on the board as
Colton Kotecki took the opening kickoff 89 yards to the house. Kotecki carried the ball up the sideline, where he had several blockers ahead of him. He used the blockers to get out to midfield before letting his speed take over, as he won the footrace to the endzone.
Will Griffen was then responsible for the next three Big Red touchdowns. The senior running back, playing in his last home game at Schoellkopf Field, showed his versatility punching in a one-yard touchdown and then following it up with a shifty score from 10-yards out. His final touchdown of the day was a 13-yard connection with
Connor Ostrander, in which Griffen reached over the defender to grab the ball.
Griffen also grabbed the Big Red's lone interception of the night.
The final Big Red score came with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest. Ostrander floated a pass to
Alexander Furman in the endzone, who came down with it, despite being well-defended on the play.
The Big Red accumulated over 300 yards of total offense, while holding the Eagles to under 60.
Cornell returns to action at 7 p.m. next Friday when it takes on Army West Point on the road.
