Men's Squash Readies For Makeup Match vs. Rochester

ITHACA, N.Y. – The men's squash team will look to make one last push before the national championships when it takes on Rochester at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a nonleague match at Belkin International Squash Courts.

Cornell (6-11) will likely remain No. 15 in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings this week after losses to Penn and Princeton last weekend to close out Ivy League play. That should keep the Big Red aligned with the Hoehn Cup grouping in the national rankings (nine to 16), but can improve its seeding with a victory over eighth-ranked Rochester (6-5).

The Yellowjackets won three of four matches Feb. 3-4 in the Liberty League Championships. Ricardo Lopez and Marcus Sim are tied for the team lead with 9-2 records. Tomotaka Endo and Ashley Davies compete exclusively from the top two positions in the order.

Even though Rochester is in a different conference, the Yellowjackets are the Big Red's most common opponent in Cornell's program history. The Big Red holds a dominating 56-17 advantage in the all-time series, though Rochester has won seven of last eight meetings. The lone Cornell victory in that span came by a 6-3 margin on Jan. 23, 2013 at Belkin.

The match against Rochester is a makeup date from last Wednesday, when the originally scheduled tilt was postponed due to inclement weather.
