NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sophomore
Joseph McAllister continued to roll at No. 6 singles, then the men's tennis team swept the top three singles matches in rapid succession to pull away from Yale for a 4-2 victory on Saturday at Heyman-Cullman Tennis Center.
Yale (10-11, 0-5 Ivy League) started off by winning the doubles point, but McAllister quickly countered by breezing to a 6-1, 6-1 victory to kick off singles. He's now 4-0 in Ivy League singles matches.
Both junior
David Volfson (No. 1) and sophomore
Lev Kazakov (No. 3) survived tight first sets, then freshman
Alafia Ayeni was forced to go to a third set at No. 2. All three ended up winning handily in their respective final sets to help 47th-ranked Cornell (9-10, 2-3) clinch.
Cornell is back in action at 1 p.m. Sunday, when it visits Brown in Providence, R.I. The match against the Bears will be broadcast on Ivy League Network
