Cornell To Host KIDS DAY At Basketball Double Header On Saturday

* (updated on Jan. 17 to reflect time changes due to the impending storm expected to hit the Northeast this weekend).

ITHACA, N.Y. -- When the Cornell women's and men's basketball teams welcome Columbia to Newman Arena on Saturday, Jan. 19 expect to see a new generation of Big Red fans in attendance. For the fifth straight year, you can thank the family of Fred Geise '75 for that.

Cornell Athletics will celebrate its Fifth Annual Fred Geise Memorial KIDS DAY, beginning with the women taking on the Lions at 11 a.m. Free activities, including face painting (by Cami and Dan of Festive Faces), an inflatable obstacle course, sand art, photo booth and other games (courtesy of CNY Attractions) will continue throughout the women's game and into the men's contest, which is slated to tip 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.

Kids receive FREE admission to both games and there will be plenty of free giveaways (while supplies last).

The family of Fred Geise, a 1975 Cornell graduate, made sure he would be memorialized in a way he would have appreciated. According to his family, KIDS DAY epitomizes Fred's feelings about life – to keep families engaged, to stay athletically active, and to include as many as possible in activities like basketball.
