A season-best performance by the Cornell men's soccer team led the Big Red to a 6-0 victory over Harvard on Saturday, Oct. 12. Six goals was the most goals scored by a Cornell team since the 2000 season, when the Big Red defeated Army, 6-0, on Oct. 31. With a win over the Crimson, Cornell earned its fifth clean sheet of the season, the most by a Cornell team since the 2014 team posted 11 (10-0-1 when holding opponents to zero goals).

Griffin Garrard was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for Oct. 14, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. A first year from Pittsburgh, Pa., Garrard scored two goals last week in helping the Big Red to two victories at home. It's Cornell's fourth Ivy League honor of the season, with fellow first year

Garrard opened the week by scoring the first goal of his career against Colgate in a 1-0 win over the Raiders on Tuesday, Oct. 8. In the 75th minute of action, Garrard fielded a header from fellow first year,
Brandon Morales, and used his left foot to send the ball home at the far post. Garrard continued his strong week on Saturday, Oct. 12, scoring a 76th minute goal against Harvard in a 6-0 romping of Cornell's Ivy League rival. Six goals were the most by a Cornell side since a 6-0 victory over Army-West Point on Oct. 31, 2000. Garrard's goal on Saturday was a gorgeous one, bending around the reach of Harvard's goalkeeper and tucking into the upper right corner of the net.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST YALE
Yale lead the all-time series against Cornell, 48-26-16, dating back to the first ever meeting in 1908. Under
John Smith, Cornell is 0-3-0 against Yale, but took the Bulldogs to overtime last season before falling 2-1 in the 97th minute.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Yale's defense ranks as one of the best in the country to date, allowing just 0.57 goals per match through 10 contests, a mark that ranks No. 9 nationally. The Bulldogs average fewer shots per game than the Big Red at 13.70, but have a higher scoring average with 2.30 goals per game.
Yale's defense has been aided by the outstanding play of goalkeeper Elian Haddock who boasts a 0.58 goal against average and a .829 save percentage. Yale has allowed the least number of goals in the Ivy League with nine and ranked second in the league in shutouts with four, behind five from Cornell.
The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Mark Winhoffer (3 goals, 9 assists) who has tallied 15 points through ten matches. Winhoffer is the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week for Oct. 13. Winhoffer's nine assists on the season tie him for the NCAA Division I lead with players from UConn, Marshall and CSUN. Miguel Yuste is second on the team in scoring with six goals and two assists (14 points), leading the team in goals scored. Paolo Carroll is second on the team in assists with five.

Following the match against Yale, Cornell will travel to Albany to face the Great Danes at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Albany is currently 6-4-1 with a 2-1 record in the American East Conference.
