BIG RED RECEIVING VOTES IN WEEK FIVE COACHES POLL
Coaches around the country have begun to notice the Big Red, with Cornell receiving 10 votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. It's the first time Cornell has received votes this season after ranking as high as No. 18 in 2018.
LAST TIME OUT
Cornell men's soccer defeated Akron in a barn burner on Saturday, Sept. 28, needing two overtime periods to down the Zips by a final tally of 3-2. Senior
Ryan Bayne came up big in the clutch for the Big Red, scoring the game-winning goal on a header in the 102nd minute.
With a win, Cornell (5-2) is now 2-1 on the season in overtime games, with all three overtime contests being played on the road. The Big Red are 2-0 against teams that played in the 2019 College Cup, as both Michigan State and Akron were among the best teams in the country last season. Akron (0-7) lost at home for just the 11th time in the last decade, and are now 100-11-11 in home matches during that span. The Zips have fallen on a bout of tough luck this season, losing five, one goal matches, in a row.
ABOUT THE BIG RED
Cornell owns a 5-2 overall record in 2019 following wins over then No. 16-ranked Michigan State (2-1, OT), Fairleigh Dickinson (1-0), Canisius (2-0), Siena (1-0) and Akron (3-2, 2OT). The Big Red is 2-0 at home and 3-2 when facing teams on the road.

Harry Fuller is the team leader in points (10) and goals (4), while also chipping in with two assists. Tied for the team-high in assists is first year
Brandon Morales with two through his first six collegiate matches. Morales also tallied a goal in Cornell's win over Akron. Cornell has distributed the goal scoring this season with six different goal scorers. Senior

Ryan Bayne, sophomore
Emeka Eneli, Fuller, Morales and first year
Will Citron have done the scoring for the Big Red.
In goal, senior
Ryan Shellow has started each of the last six matches and possesses a 5-1 record to show for it. Shellow has a 0.96 goals against average and owns a .700 save percentage, saving 14 of the 20 shots on goal he has faced in 2019. With Shellow in net, the Big Red have shut out three opponents this season.
RYAN BAYNE NAMED IVY LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Following a 2-0 week that featured victories over Siena (1-0) and Akron (3-2, 2OT), senior defender
Ryan Bayne was been named Ivy League Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Bayne came up big in the clutch for Cornell against Akron on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal on a header in the 102nd minute of action.
Bayne's goal on Saturday is his second on the season and the third of his career. Bayne has been a workhorse in the Cornell back line, playing every minute of action in six of the teams seven games, including all 102 minutes against Akron.
It's the third time Cornell has come away with an Ivy League weekly honor in 2019. First year
Will Citron was named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 9 and junior
Harry Fuller was named Player of the Week on Sept. 23.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST PENN
In a series that dates back to 1908, Penn currently leads the all-time series by a 63-31-14 margin. Cornell's 1-0 double overtime victory over the Quakers in 2018 was the teams first over Penn since a 3-2 victory on Sept. 29, 2012.
ABOUT THE QUAKERS
After opening the season with two consecutive victories, Penn has gone 1-3-1 since. The Quakers currently possess wins over Monmouth (2-0), Marist (1-0) and Temple (1-0), and have tied a strong Rutgers squad (1-1).
Joey Bhangdia is the teams leading scorer with four goals on the season, but was held scoreless in just 17 minutes of action against West Virginia. Alex Touche and Kai Lammers are the only other Quakers to find the back of the net in 2019, with each contributing one goal.
The Quakers will need to find more offense against Cornell on Saturday, currently ranking No. 7 in the Ivy League in scoring with .86 goals per game. Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen has been solid in net for Penn this season, posting a .97 goals against average and a .759 save percentage through seven matches.

The Raiders will face both Lehigh and Boston prior to meeting the Big Red on Tuesday. Colgate is led by senior goalkeeper, Jacob Harris, who owns a .91 goals against average and a .780 save percentage despite the teams 2-3-4 record.
