ITHACA, N.Y. - Quarterback
Aneesh Agrawal ran in a touchdown for Cornell but Navy took home the 70-7 win, Friday night.
The first Midshipmen touchdown was scored in the eight minute of the first quarter on a run by Caleb Champion. Navy followed with two more rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. When the clock struck 00:00 at the end of the second quarter, the Midshipmen had scored two more touchdowns for a 35-0 lead going into halftime.
The Big Red played strong in the second half but it was not enough to take down the Midshipmen as Navy scored four more touchdowns in the third quarter.
Cornell's strongest quarter came in the final 15 minutes as it held Navy to just one touchdown scored at 14:50. With the Big Red defense working hard to stop Navy, the Cornell offense was able to score the final touchdown of the game with just over five minutes remaining.
Kai Mulligan recovered a fumble, forced by
Alan Xie, to get the Big Red on the four yard-line. After a rush by
Will Shephard and a complete pass from Agrawal to Shephard, Agrawal ran the ball into the touchdown zone for a Big Red score.
On the offense,
Jacob Wynkoop led the team with 47 yards rushed, while
Connor Young led with 35 yards received.
For the defense,
Matt Peck led with 11 tackles, while Spencer Pettee
Alan Xie each forced a fumble.
