ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's squash team cruised to a pair of 9-0 sweeps in its season debut on Sunday, spilling St. Lawrence and William Smith in a pair of matches at Belkin International Squash Courts.
 
Cornell (2-0), which was tabbed ninth in the College Squash Association's preseason national rankings, won all of its 18 matches on the day in the minimum three games and conceded no more than seven points in any of those 54 games. Freshmen Alexis Shatzman, McKenna Stoltz, Mia Krishnamurthy and Ania LaDow all won their collegiate debuts in the match against 25th-ranked St. Lawrence. Freshman Sydney Bednar then did the same against the 27th-ranked Herons in the evening, breezing by her opponent at No. 9.
 
The Big Red has now won each of its 11 all-time meetings with St. Lawrence, which is coached by former Big Red assistant Scott Denne. Cornell is also undefeated in 16 meetings with William Smith, having not conceded any points in 15 straight.
 
Cornell returns to action one more time before the semester break, opening Ivy League play at noon Sunday, Dec. 8 with a match against Columbia.
