ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's and women's polo teams will hit the road for the first time in 2019 when they visit Kentucky this weekend at the Commonwealth Polo Club. The men will meet on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m., while the women square off on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m.
The men are 11-2 on the season and are riding a four-match win streak (9-1 last 10 games) after a 22-16 win over Western Ontario on Feb. 15. Since the beginning of the semester and the debut of head coach
Branden Van Loon '13, the Big Red has outscored its opponents 93-30. The game will be the rubber match of a three-game series, with the Wildcats defeating the Big Red 13-11 at the Virginia Fall Tournament in October and Cornell turning the tables 18-8 in November at the Bill Field Invite in Ithaca.
The Big Red women are 10-6 on the season and coming off a narrow 17-13 loss to Melinda's Prospect Farm on Feb. 16. With Northeast Regionals just two weeks away, Cornell is closing in on competing for its 10th crown in the last 11 seasons.
