ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman
Allison Kerce had three hits, including her team-best fifth home run, but Yale's big bats stayed hot in a 10-1 Bulldog win in five innings on Sunday afternoon at Niemand*Robison Field. Yale completed the three-game series sweep, improving to 11-16 (6-3 Ivy), while the Big Red fell to 3-19 (2-4 Ivy).
Kerce was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and slammed a third inning home to center for the Big Red's lone run of the day. Both
Hanna Crist and
Emily McKinney also had a hit and drew a walk for the Big Red, while freshman classmate
Ashley Delany went the distance in the circle.
Kortney Ponce was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a home run, driving in three. Sydney Grobman hit a three-run homer in the second to stake the visitors to a 7-0 lead, one that Terra Jerpbak held for Yale. Jerpbak struck out seven in picking up the complete game win, scattering seven hits and stranding seven Big Red baserunners. Both Shelby Kennedy and Olivia Vinyard also had two hits apiece.
Cornell returns to action on Tuesday, April 2 when it visits Morgan State for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
