CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Harvard claimed the 2019 Ivy League regular season title with a 9-1 win over Cornell on Monday afternoon at Soldiers Field. The Big Red end the season with a 10-36 record (5-16 Ivy), while the Crimson improved to 23-17 (16-5 Ivy).
Olivia Rooney's one-out double to the centerfield wall cut the Big Red deficit to 2-1 in the second. That would be all the offense could muster, as the Crimson scored five runs in the bottom of the inning and single runs in both the fourth and fifth frames to pick up the win.
Harvard had 11 hits, with four players collecting multiple knocks on the day. Meagan Lantz was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while both Erin Lockhart and Trina Hoang each had two hits and two RBI. Katie Duncan and Alissa Hiener combined on the four-hitter in the circle.
Emily McKinney was 1-for-1 with a walk,
Hanna Crist walked twice and
Miranda Lawson doubled for the Big Red in the loss.
