Men's Squash Announces Five Newcomers For 2019-20 Season

ITHACA, N.Y. — David Palmer, the James Broadhead '57 Head Coach of Squash, announced today the five newcomers who will join the men's squash team for the 2019-20 season. Freshmen Veer Chotrani, Humza Khan, Nick Robinson, Inderjit Singh and Brent Stein will join a Big Red squad that improved three positions from 2018 to 2019 in the College Squash Association National Championships.
 
The Big Red's schedule for the upcoming season will be announced later this summer.
 

Incoming Player Biographies

Veer Chotrani
5-foot-9 — Mumbai, India (Jamnabai Narsee School)
Chotrani joins the Big Red fresh off a victory at the 2019 Asian Junior U19 Championship in June. He also advanced into the semifinals of 2019 Indian Nationals, and won four of six matches while competing with India at 2018 World Junior Team Championship. He reached the third round in individual play at the same World Junior Championship, and he advanced as far as the third round of the British Junior U17 Open in 2018 and British Junior U19 Open in 2019.
 
Humza Khan
5-foot-11 — Centerville, Ohio (Miami Valley School)
Khan has ranked top 15 nationally in the BU15, BU17 and BU19 divisions. He won Midwest Region championship in those same divisions. He also ran sprints for the track and field team in high school, qualifying for state regionals in the 100m and 200m.
 
Nick Robinson
6-foot-2 — New York (Brewster Academy)
Robinson has ranked nationally as high as the top two spots in the BU11, BU13, BU15 and BU17 divisions. He competed with the U.S. team in Battle of the Border in both 2015 and 2017, and he was named a US Squash Scholar Athlete four times.
 
Inderjit Singh
5-foot-7 — Chandigarh, India (St. John's HS)
Singh arrives on East Hill ranked 13th in India's BU19 division. He finished sixth at the 2018 India Junior National Championship in the BU19 division. Singh also took 18th at the 2018 Asian Junior Individual Championships in the same division, and he came in fourth at the 2018 NSCI All India Junior Open.
 
Brent Stein
6-foot-1 — Paradise Valley, Ariz. (Phoenix Country Day School)
Stein ranked as high as 23rd nationally in the BU19 division. He was selected to compete in the 2018 West Coast Regional Junior Championships. Stein also competed for the golf team at Phoenix Country Day School.
