NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The women's squash team rolled to pair of 9-0 victories over George Washington and Franklin & Marshall in neutral-site over the weekend at Brady Squash Center, wrapping up a busy stretch of six matches over a span of just 10 days.
Cornell (5-6), which is ranked 10th in the nation by the College Squash Association, rebounded from Friday's 7-2 loss to Trinity in convincing fashion. On Saturday against #14 GW, the Big Red was particularly dominant in three-game sweeps from the bottom third of the order, consisting of freshman
McKenna Stoltz (No. 7), senior
Lucy Martin (No. 8) and freshman
Ania LaDow (No. 9) – the latter of which conceded just a single point in her match. The strength of the Colonials' lineup – competitors at the top two positions – were also silenced on the afternoon, with sophomores
Sivasangari Subramaniam and
Lily Zelov also winning via sweep. Cornell is now a perfect 9-0 all-time against GW.
Sunday's match against #18 Franklin & Marshall was even more decisive, with every single match wrapped up in three games.
Samira Chatrathi and
Sydney Bednar came into the lineup and won handily at the bottom two spots. The victory was Cornell's 15th straight against the Diplomats.
Cornell returns to Ivy League play for the rest of its regular season, starting with a match against Dartmouth at 11 a.m. Saturday at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca.
