ITHACA, N.Y. – Fresh off a 7-0 defeat of Binghamton at the Reis Tennis Center last Saturday, the Cornell men's tennis team is in action once again on Sunday, Feb. 2, hosting Michigan State and Colgate for a pair of duals. The Big Red will face Michigan State at noon on Sunday before welcoming Colgate for a 4 p.m. match.
It was a strong start to the dual season for Cornell last weekend, opening the semester with a 7-0 romping of Binghamton at home.

Michigan State (3-1) has won three times to start its season. Led by longtime head coach Gene Orlando, the Spartans have defeated Toledo, Ball State and Niagara, while dropping a match at Middle Tennessee. Michigan State won each of its home matches last weekend, defeating Ball State (4-2) and Niagara (7-0). The Spartans are missing their top player from a year ago, Jack Winkler, but have received solid contributions from John Carlin, Anthony Pero and Carson Gates. Cornell has faced MSU four times in the all-time series, with Michigan State leading the series 3-1.
Colgate (1-0) won its first match of the winter last weekend, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn by a score of 6-1. The Raiders had a down year in 2018-19, finishing the season with a 7-14 record. Colgate had finished with a record above the .500 mark for five straight seasons prior to last year. Head coach Bobby Pennington is in his 14th year with the program and has led them to seven winning seasons.
Cornell has dominated the all-time series with Colgate, owning a 57-16-3 record dating back to 1916.
