#1 Harvard Visits For #13 Men's Squash's Senior Day

2/11/2020 2:30:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's squash team will celebrate its Senior Day on Saturday, when it hosts Harvard for a noon match at Belkin International Squash Courts.

Cornell (5-9, 1-5 Ivy League), ranked 13th in the nation by the College Squash Association, will be taking on a top-ranked Harvard (12-0, 6-0) squad that has not been defeated since the championship match of the 2019 Potter Cup. The Crimson has only conceded three points in its season, one of which came in an 8-1 decision over second-ranked Trinity that ended the Bantams' 51-match home winning streak on Feb. 5.

The Big Red is coming off a pair of Ivy League losses last weekend to highly-ranked squads. Cornell was topped by fourth-ranked Princeton, 8-1, on Friday before a 9-0 loss to Penn on Sunday. The lone point came from freshman Humza Khan, who battled for nearly an hour in a five-game match at the No. 6 spot for his fourth victory of the season. Veer Chotrani and Nicholas Göth Errington lead the team with matching 8-6 records. The Big Red is 2-48 all-time against Harvard, though one of those victories came at Belkin on Dec. 4, 2010.

As the final home match of the season for the Big Red, Saturday will serve as the program's Senior Day to commemorate the careers of Max R. Mailman, James Paolella and Jared Scherl.
